After reading all of the posts on the EX-F1, I'm almost ready to 'pull the trigger' and buy this camera, so I called Casio in New Jersey to find out where to purchase.

Here's what I was told by a person in their their customer service dept:
1. The F1 will be sold ONLY thru photo specialty retailers.

2. On-line (web) sales are NOT allowed. I asked why and was told that Casio in the U.S. feels that the F1 must be sold in a 'sales assisted' environment so the consumer can be properly demonstrated and instructed how to properly utilize the F1's unique features.

3. Only about 150 across the U.S. or so retailers will be authorized by Casio to sell the F1.

4. B&H, Ritz (Wolf), and Adorama have been authorized and have the camera in stock, but you can't order it on their dotcom website. Call them, instead.

5. Casio's website is in the process of being updated with a revised 'Store Locator' specifically for the listing of Authorized EX-F1 retailers.

6. Casio has been shipping the F1 to their authorized retailers for about 3 weeks and has cameras in stock to support retailers as they sign-up for the F1.

The Casio rep also told me that anyone in the U.S. selling the F1 camera on the web (including eBay) is offering 'grey market' cameras imported from overseas.......so 'buyer beware'.

The Casio rep also informed me that even though at a $999 selling price, Casio is not marketing the F1 as a replacement or substitute for a DSLR. They feel the F1 will appeal to a 'prosumer' customer who wants a camera that has the high-speed shooting features (still and/or video) + the video (with HD) capture.

I coach Little League baseball so the F1's 300fps video appeals to me to analyze my team's kids swinging at the baseball. My neighbor thinks it would also be great to shoot a golfer's swing to help correct poor 'mechanics'.

All in all, it sound's like the F1 would be perfect for what I want.........now if I can only convince my wife to buy the F1 as a gift for my upcoming birthday.

I'll post some photos when I get the camera.
