Thanks Denosha for pointing out the 60fps burst mode and the english manual on the included disc.

After playing with the camera for a week, I can honestly not recommend this thing to anyone unless you are shooting something in high speed. There are so many, "what the?" moments that overcome the positives. The average user will be much better served with a traditional dSLR.

some positives:
- long battery life...LONG
- live view
- high speed shots
- big zoom
- light
- good construction

negatives
- 7fps flash is great, but my D200 with an SB600 can do that, and the price is not much of difference
- non-standard USB plug (very big gripe)
- slow autofocusing
- useless jog wheel
- poor low light performance
- poor HDTV performance (it doesn't look much different from 480p stretched because everything has the plastic effect like overusing NoiseNinja, and there are a lot of artifacts)
- slow zoom
- 6 mpix, albiet because you are doing 60fps
- digital viewfinder is absolutely horrible

This is a high speed video camera with $150 digital camera features slapped onto it. Treat it as such. If you think a normal high speed camera is $20k, this is a bargain. But for most people, the picture-taking will be the main feature.

High speed video is cool, but a gimmick that wears off fast.

Get this camera if you are involved in the following:
- action sports photograhy
- action nature photography
- motion/physics analysis (such as sports or engineering)
- magician training
- winning at the ball and 3 cups street game
- studying technique in your field that requires speed, such as sports, lattle art, martial arts, etc.

Don't get it for the HDTV video either. It's just that bad, and I'm in semi-professional video editing for 4 years.

- flames were shot right at sunset. although low light, it wasn't dark. The camera requires a lot of light. Works great even in overcast skys or indirect sun.
