I can't remember the exact numbers, I should have written them down but I'm a dozy git.
Roughly.
Duplicate layer-change to soft light-gaussian blur at around 4. Then I used selective colour. Selected the black channel and added a bit of black then red channel and took a bit of black out.
The sharpenig was done on the original layer. Low amount/high radius, prob around 10/25/5, then go to edit/fade unsharp mask and select the luminosity channel. Same again but with something like 1.2/350/5, I may have actually faded that one. I tend to oversharpen then fade the result.
The selective colour trick works well if you have a low contrast image which lacks a bit of punch, by just making the blacks a bit blacker it can work well to perk it up without affecting anything else. Same with reducing the black in the red channel, works well on blotchy skin.
The loss of detail in the black is a personal preference, think it stems from my B&W film days. I just dislike milky blacks and would rather have no detail in the shadows:) though as always it depends on the shot.
