Hey guys (and gals)!

I lent my camera to my girlfriend who unfortunately dropped it, and even though it was off at the time, and seemed fine, it immediately developed a problem:

She picked it up, it was off, then she turned it on, the lens came out (it may or may not then have taken a photo), but it suddenly died (with the lens stuck open). Now I've tried recharging the batteries, wiggling the lens assembly (don't ask me why) and giving it some bumps on a padded surface, but it won't turn on, not even to retract the lens.

Any ideas fellas as to how to bring it to life before I send it in for service? :) Is it worth trying my luck with warranty, or should I try to take it apart myself, or?
