The F100, F200 & F70 cameras are known to choose higher ISO often than neccessary when in auto ISO mode. As a result of that, the picture quality was often not optimal. Due to this reason, I always manually set the ISO. But I bought this F100 for my wife so I set it at Auto 400. I discovered today that there is a better setting than the Auto400 ISO.
I was experimenting with my new S90 and discovered the camera has this similar flaw on auto ISO. I then discovered a cure for that camera (see Cannon fourm) and was interested to see if I can find the solution for the Fuji.
On the F100, when I set the scene mode at "Beach", the camera often choose lower ISO than even the M mode with Auto400. As I compared shot to shot, there were a few outdoor shots that the M mode chose ISO200 and flash but the Beach mode chose 100 without which is what I would manually choose.
For the indoor, not so bright settings, the camera chose 200 to 400 ISO; never exceeded 400. So it is now set at "Beach" setting with auto flash for my wife. The biggest draw back is no "Auto slow sync" flash which I would rather have.
I believe this would work on the F200 & F70. Try it Brian and let me know what cha think.
