A while ago I posted a thread about some blurring issues I had encountered on my new F200EXR. Out of 200+ photos, some came out really blurred. Now if it was handholding the camera in the middle of the night I would understand it, but these were well lit scenes, in broad daylight under the mid summer sun! In other words I found blur where no blur should be found.
Anyway, after some digging around I found that the culprit /could/ be the IS system, where if you held the camera steady enough it would trick the sensors in counter motion where they should just be inactive. So I resorted in switching off IS unless I needed it, and also upgraded the firmware; And voila! problem gone.
However coming back from a 10day vacation trip I was surprised to find again some blur in broad daylight conditions! Admittedly this only occured in 4 photos out of 500, so it was not so bad, but this had me thinking. This time the IS was switched off so something else must have caused this.
I examined the EXIF data and found that all 4 photos had one thing in common: extremely small aperture values. We are talking from F10 up to F14. Keep in mind that the brightness was a bit extreme (cloudless mid noon summer in Greece), but with such small aperture values the speed was as slow as 1/70 in one case, and 1/110 to 1/140 in others. (Clearly it needn't have been so, but with such F values what do you expect?)
I don't think there is something wrong with the camera itself, but I do believe that if the camera for some reason selects a very small aperture value it could lead to blurred photos where you would not expect to have any.
What do you guys think? Anyone notice anything like that?
