Is the G11 Quick Shot mode a solution for sluggish performance and missed shots, as mentioned by some in this forum?
The manual is not very explicative on how it works. This is what I found out:

- The camera uses the continuous focussing mode, not the servo mode (both are continuous but the servo continues focussing even after the halfpress of the shutter button).
- The camera always chooses the widest aperture (2.8-4.5). However the illustration in the manual shows 5.6, so possibly I missed here something?
- The AE lock can be used and the * sign shows up on the screen.
- With the "normal" continuous shooting option (AF continuous option not available) I count about 11 frames in 10 seconds, so no gain on normal modes.
- Also, exposure is not changed during continuous shooting in Quick Shot.

My conclusion is that the time gained is in:
- the quicker preparation of the camera (no need to swivel the screen out, no need to change to continuous focus mode in the menu) just put the viewfinder to your eye (and zoom in or out).
- the supposed reduction of the shutterlag, made possible by not using the screen. Anybody knows how much?

I also tried the Low Light mode to increase frame rate, but in normal light it makes rather strange combinations such as ISO 1600 and 1/800. But sure it would be very interesting to have the pixel binning as a menu option in regular shooting modes....

greetings from Costa Rica!
