I finally tested this new G11. First shots were HORRIBLE in Jpeg, all auto. Why ?
- A LOT OF CHROMATIC ABERRATION
- A LOT OF PURPLE FRINGING
- SOFT, SOFT, SOFT. LACK of DETAILS
- the auto ISO tends to use higher ISO, and overexpose.
- VERY DIFFICULT to get the right exposure

.....Compared to my LX3 and even the TZ7, It was VERY BAD, and I was ready to sell it. .....UNTIL, I thought I would give it a final try in RAW.

And...Whaouh. A completely new experience, like a new camera. Now we are talking. I tried with the new Capture One Pro 5. Results were:

- SHARP, edge to edge. (You need to apply 200-300 in sharpening to get the same level of sharpening as on te JPEg of the Pana LX3)
- Good colour and Good DR
- Better details than the LX3 Jpegs. (note: the LX3 Raw are nearly the same as Jpegs)
- Can remove ALL chromatic aberration and purple fringing in Capture oNe Pro, and it works greats
Very clean images

Glad I did not sell the G11. Now, now sure that I will sell the LX3 as it is a beauty, but I can say the G11 is slightly better. This becomes my number 1 for photo. Of course it cannot replace the amazing HD movies from the Pana TZ7. Too bad.

In summary, MUST shoot RAW as difference with jpeg is HUGE, and I advise to use capture One 5.

It remains, however, a camera difficult to use, and great results can hardly be obtained by just pushing the button. If the right settings are applied, it is great.
Otherwise, stick with the Pana, as it produces better results in all automatic.
