G10 zoom concern/problem

Just noticed recently the zoom function on my G10 is acting slowly - camera is on, in shoot mode and when I push the zoom lever to the left or right the lens does not zoom. Does not happen all the time, but when it does it is a problem. Anybody else have this happen to their G10? Did you send it to Canon service? If so how was Canon's service?
