I've used the 10MP sensors in a number of cams, the SX110 (same CCD cropped to 9Mp), the Ixus90IS and Ixus 970IS (Don't know the SD numbers) and none of them had the IQ of the SX10 regardless of settings, especially for DR and haven't a clue why, the SX10 pulls more DR from that 10Mp 1:2.3" CCD than any of the SxIS cams and the entire Sony H series including the 6Mp H2 (best DR in a Hx cam) , It must be clever curves of course but I'd swear it has more DR than the G10 ...
The SX10 is the Family megazoom here, even Ma is using it instead of Pentax DSLRs, my brother uses it too on occasion (Sis in law has my old TZ5, I have a TX1) and IMO its the best Megazoom out there, beating the FZ28 on image quality though the FZ38 may be better again (but missing the build, swivelly screen and ergonomics of course)
Just my findings of course.
