I guess I got lucky. After pulling my Canon S2 from the closet and turning it on I discovered it had the dreaded sensor failure and only displayed purple lines on the LCD. I packed it up and sent it off to Canon for the sensor repair and after two weeks I recieved a letter and a box stating parts were no longer available for this model and they have sent a replacement. Also in the box was a Canon S5IS which has a refurbished sticker on the bottom but looks to be in brand new condtion. I tested it out briefly but it seems to be perfect. I am very happy with Canon. They replaced a relatively older model with a newer version with more features and MPs. Those of you who have problems with your S2's send them to Canon and if it is related to the sensor they might replace the camera. Canon is really doing the right thing.
