Hi All. I just purchased my SII a few days ago. I noticed a "pulsing" on the LCD screen AND on the viewfinder when using fluorescent light in the room. It goes anywhere from barely visible to VERY annoying. The LCD screen goes from normal brightness to perhaps 70% brightness twice a second!! Mostly noticable when background is white and object is small. Or, a text letter. Sometimes when I lock in focus it goes away. Sometimes it makes it much worse. It is extremely distracting when trying to compose a shot. I phoned Canon for the first time ever today and the representative said that he WAS able to dupicate the problem I was experiencing. Even if the fluorescent light is only augmenting the natural light it will cause this problem. Turn off the lights and use remaining natural light from outside and all is well. Just not enough light. This does NOT affect the photograph. Only ease of use. Can anyone else duplicate this? Changing setting to or from fluorescent light to any other setting has no effect. Odd they would not have noticed this at the factory. I also asked the rep how to determine the firmware version in the camera. He did not know the answer. Comments? Nikkos
