Did you ever get a "flat" picture (narrow tonal range), that looks like it has a haze over it? There's many ways to juice it up in your image editing program - curves, levels, contrast, etc. Here's a quick approach I've become very fond of.

Apply the Unsharp Mask at the wierd settings of [15, 50, 0]. It will extend the perceived dynamic range of your pictures, and give it richer, deeper colors. The process is called Local Contrast Enhancement. Here's a link to an article on LCE.

A neat thing about this approach is, since it's an application of the USM filter, you can go to [edit] immediately after applying it and [fade] the effect to taste. Here's my picture after that one-shot adjustment. Well, actually I applied it twice, to make sure can see the effect in this low rez example.

I like LCE so much that I've created a little [action], and assigned it to the F3 key.
