I took some pics of a great sunset last weekend and was a little dissapointed with the clarity at 100% crop. I was using my 70 - 300, which has a rep for good IQ. Just to check on things I ran a very short test on auto focus vs manual focus. Manual won out. But manual focus is pretty tough with the screen on my D40. Recalling back to my film days, before auto focus, cameras had a variety of focus screen designs to facilaltate manual focusing. Does such a thing exist today? Do any cameras have interchangable focus screens, either easy or hard to install? Help or advise from anyone with experience in this area would be greatly appreciated.
