Cassandra,
Thanks for the positive response. Yes, I started with Insta-Sketch beta, after it runs, I go into history and go up 2 -3 steps.....I think it's called layer order and choose that.....which eliminates the last 2-3 steps....which gives me a lighter sketch look. I then turn off the color layer & flatten. If I want color, I usually go back to my original for that. Then, I add a white fill layer above my sketch......I then use my wacom tablet/pen and choose pencil......find a good choice of pencil mark & start drawing on the white layer.....which I have lowered the opacity down enough to see the image below. I chose 'darken' for most of the drawing strokes. If you look close in her hair and lips, you can see the effect of the pencil strokes. After I have gone over everything that I think heeds attention with the pencil....I pick a brush to bring out some of the shading. I then flatten and copy the result and paste it back as layer above the original picture & paint in ....or just use the opacity slider until I get a mix that looks pleasing. Bear in mind the original that I refer to in this photo......had already been transformed to a b&w at some previous time. Hope that this makes some sense.
