Yes Bernadette....

You are correct mostly.

Firstly just scribble around the details on the layer mask to make the strokes. Don't remember the brush size.

The texture is Trimoons Muslin and it was applied twice to the Watercolor layer.... One application was faded to Pinlight and contrast increased... makes the little bumps stand out.

Then apply a gradient map (plenty to choose from) to the watercolor layer. Play with hue and sat, turn on the top layer and your'e done.

Gradient maps are fun to work with but not intuitive... a bit hit and miss.
