I am currently trying to learn the best noise reduction techniques. A thread discussing this topic back in June produced some disagreements. In general, Kent C recommend using NI first, while VG recommended doing color and exposure editing in PS first, then using NI (unless upsizing or USM).

I know lots of folks say to use NI first, but VG's recommendation seems to make a lot of sense to me. I have 2 questions.

1. VG recommends making color and exposure edits in PS first. But, what about other types of edits, such as cloning, Gaussian blur techniques, etc.. My GUESS would be to use NI before these edits in PS, but what do i know!

2. Is there still a lot of disagareement about whether to use PS or NI first. Has there been any testing done on this subject, or reconciliation of views?
