thanks chuck, i dint even notice the shadow, but removing it makes a huge improvement also darkened the eyelashes http://www.pbase.com/image/20734622/original.jpg
shrinking, expanding, moving things is done with the liquify filter, just play with it
skin smoothing is often done with cloning techniques, but i usually use the following simple technique
duplicate layer blur layer maybe 5-10 pixels create layer mask fill mask with black use soft, white, round brush at maybe 15-25% to paint in the blur over the skin, build up slowly, stay away from facial details, especially the eyes adjust layer opacity to go from realistic to magazine cover
