Here is one of the better methods I picked up from this forum.

1) Create a Channel mixer layer (layer - new layer - channel mixer) - click OK
2) Settings for channel mixer layer - output channel grey, red 0, green 112, blue 0
3) Go to layer palette - on the channel mixer layer select the MASK
4) Click CTL + I with the mask selected to invert
5) Zoom in on the eyes - select the brush tool at about 80% hardness and size it to the red eye (Make sure white is the foreground color) - click with the brush tool on the eye and you will now have eliminated the red eye. Select the other eye and repeat step 5.
