Mr. Pickles,
Go to your picture and up to Image>duplicate Then with the duplicate go to Image>Image size and resize the image to your preferences....you can't make it to much smaller though than the opening in the wood or matte....but this should do it. Always work off of a duplicate of your images, this way you don't accidently make mistakes....and it doesn't take that long to do.
If my action uses your picture, I always duplicate it first so that you don't have to hit revert or accidentally erase everything.
