Photoshop – 3D frame

1) Select your photo and do all the necessary adjustments (eg levels, curves etc)
2) Flatten the photo
3) Duplicate the flattened original photo - Image - duplicate (keep this duplicate copy for later use)
4) Crop the original photo (not the duplicate) to a smaller size - use the crop tool and put cursor in the width box and hit delete and put the cursor in the height box and hit delete. Ensure the resolution remains the same.
5) Create your frame any way you want ( I used the Dave Jaseck frame method that was posted here on DPReview)
6) Go to the layers palette and click on the top layer

7) Now select the "copy" that you created in step 3 above
8) Select the move tool, position cursor on the background layer (of the copy) hold left mouse button down and drag the copy to the original photo.
9) You are now working on the original. Reduce opacity of the top layer so that you can see the photo below and position the "copy" directly over the original.
10) Add a layer mask to this layer and paint in the layer mask with black to reveal the matte and frame underneath.
Thats it

Check out the flower photos on my pbase site to ensure it is the effect you want
