Hi Glenn,

Just two remarks, I ordered the Graphire4 just two weeks ago and tried it for several days before I sent it back to order an intuos3.

Before ordering I red a couple of reviews about the Graphire and I found one argument in several of the reviews:

Wacom just provides good drivers and due to the fact that there is a shared driver for Graphire and Intuos you get bullet proof software even for the low budget version.

Well obviously things have changed a bit with the graphire4. It is still true that there is a combined driver for Intuos and Graphire but some essential features are just disabled with the graphire4. I am talking about application specific settings which are very important for me (especially if you only have two buttons on the graphire4). You simply cannot configure the tablet in regard to different applications. I think this was different in older versions of the Graphire.

I definitely do not appreciate this. I remember the Canon Digital rebel approach where they also restricted the camera by software.

So this forced me to make a decision: Upgrade to intuos3 for twice the price or not using a tablet at all. Eventually I gave in and ordered the Intuos.

So I know own the Intuos3 for two days and have to admit the device just feels much more precise. (I hope that this is not due to the fact that I want it to feel better after I paid twice the price for the graphire4), just kidding - The difference is real and the (very same) driver now lets me configure the settings depending on the application I use.

Well I have to admit that I have mixed feelings concerning Wacom. I lover their engineering department and I am quite angry about their product managers.

Regards Chris
