I'm struggling with sharpening for the web. I've been able to print up a stellar, crisp, sharp 8x10 photo of this shot, and then reworked the original (changed to 8-bit, sRGB, and sharpened) for the web-- but it still looks soft to me. I'm using a profiled monitor (Eye-one Match).

Is there a handy trick to sharpening for the web? Any advice appreciated.

For the photo right below, I sharpened using a duplicate background layer in soft light mode, then went to the high pass filter and adjusted until it looked good:
