I'm shocked how easy and fast it is to mask some pictures (ok...if they have a plain background). The only thing that I suggest would be to work on the background first and make it as different from the hair as you can...Hue/Saturation, Selective Color, Levels, etc.

When the video moves into the Channels palette demonstration, it may be MUCH easier to INVERT before dodging and burning. Using shortcuts is a big timesaver.
