Hi Timned....
I'll give it a try to help you out..only just having made my own action to do the same thing.
I will assume you are using PS CS...
To create a new action you need to select "create new set" button at the bottom of the actions pallette.(I like to put my own actions into a set where I can find them easily but if you prefer you can pass on this step) Give your action set a name, eg. My Actions, select ok.
Click the button to "create new action"...(found next to the "create new set" button)...give it a meaningful name eg....Raw to jpeg, then click record.
Everything you do from now on is being recorded in your action.....you will notice the little button at the bottom of your action pallette is now red.
1. Open a raw file, click ok in ACR to open it into photoshop. I use .nef files...I'm assuming you just do the same thing with what ever format you are using.
2. Now go to file, save as, & choose a folder to save your image. (at this stage it doesn't matter which folder you use).
3. Choose your compression settings for your jpeg.
4. Click ok.
5. Close your file.
6. Stop the action recording. (The little square button next to the record button)
You have just made your action to convert raw files to jpeg.
The next thing you need to do is to run a batch process.
Open your file browser. Select the files you wish to convert, select Automate, batch. This will bring up a dialogue box with many options.
Follow the settings on this screen shot & hopefully you will be set.

Hope the instructions are clear.....I may have left something out....I'm new to making my own actions, but give it a try anyway......if you aren't using CS, perhaps someone else can help out.
Regards -- Terri
