I have been working with the healing brush in PSCS abd have developed the following technique which may be helpful to those new at this great tool:
1. always work on a blank layer over the image (with 7 you will have to work on a duplicate layer)
1a. use a different layer for each area to be healed. For example, do the hot spots on one layer and blemishes on another so adjustments can be made independently.
2. use the darken or lighten mode rather than Normal. This way you only alter the problem, not the surrounding area
3 after the healing, adjust opacity of the healing strokes to bring back the character (in a subdued way) and avoid the plastic look of perfect skin (most of my female subjects like the plastic look though!)
