Questions, comments and complaints regarding this challenge. http://www.dpreview.com/challenges/Challenge.aspx?ID=2182
This challenge requires that you fill the frame by getting close to your subject. It's all the more challenging when you have to use a standard focal length lens - as all too many of us have become dependent on an optical zoom. Getting close means getting /close/. "If you're not sure if you're close enough, you're not close enough."
What's difficult to shoot is all the more difficult to determine if the entry meets the rules. If the EXIF data is incomplete, there is no way to determine the focal length of the lens. To further complicate things, what's "standard" in a cropped sensor camera appears as a wide angle in the EXIF data, making some images appear to have been shot with the wrong focal length lens. I'm forced to fall back on first impressions occasionally. It's all too easy to cheat in this challenge. A crafty crop can turn a lily-livered snapshot into a bold image. I urge you not to take this cowardly shortcut but go out and shoot something specifically for this challenge (and learn something new in photography as a result!).
There will be disqualifications. Some of them will be well deserved, some of them will be open to interpretation. I don't kick an image on a whim, so recognize that I carefully consider every one before issuing a disqualification. Note also, that I take pains to explain why an image is disqualified. If you disagree, you are welcome to discuss the matter in this thread. If you make a well reasoned case, your image can be re-admitted. Alternatively, you can submit a better image.
If you believe an image should not be permitted in the challenge, use the "Complaint" button and explain why (only the host sees the complaint). Do so well before voting begins, however!
