I have the I950 and my brother has the S9000. I can see no visible banding on his or mine. Difference in print quality between the S9000 and the I950 is almost impossible to tell by the naked eye.

If I were you, I would look for a deal on a S9000 and enjoy the prints rather than wait and hope that a replacement comes out.
