Hi all,
I’ve got a Canon EOS 1000D which I’ll have an external flash for soon. I don’t remember the specs but I think the guy said it throws like 30 meters?
Anyway, it will be used for some indoor sports motion shots (pro wrestling).
Generally the arena is pretty dark with some flood lights on the ring, but obviously that doesn’t give a lot of ambient light. Has anyone got suggestions on basic settings I should be looking at for taking these shots with the flash?
Photos will be taken fairly close to the ring, so a telephoto lens isn’t really needed. Was thinking of using the kit lens 18-55mm (no IS). Does that seem ok for full ring shots and maybe some facial close ups when I’m right by the ring? I think its focal length should be fine.
I’d want to keep it fairly simple, ready to capture the action, so I don’t want to be changing settings back and forth too much during the matches. Maybe I can stick it on shutter speed priority?
So anyway, any suggestions on ISO, aperture and shutter speed would be appreciated. From what I understand, I’ll have a decent flash on it (cost me $300 AUS).
Thanks!
