I have never used a DSLR camera before so I looking for a rather user-friendly camera. A camera that has not so steep learning curve to master. But ultimately, once I get the hang of it, I wanna to be able to control and set the aperture and shutter speed, etc. Also, I would love to have a decent auto function that will choose the right setting for me at times.
But having said that, I'm not looking for the most basic model because I intend to upgrade and expand my camera range of capabilities once I become more proficient with photography. Basically a good camera to start with and easy for future upgrade.
As I'm new to photography, I have no preference to what kind of photos I'm going to make. Still at the stage of exploring where my interest lies. But 1 thing for sure, I love traveling and enjoy capturing special moments of places, events and people. Also I don't know if I want the camera to take video. Video could be an interest of mine one day but not at the moment. Definitely, a good to have.
Budget: As long as the price justifies the capabilities Size: Doesn't matter Megapixels: Doesn't matter. As long as it's sufficient for amateur like me. Optical zoom: Doesn't matter Image quality: Very important. The reason why I wanna get a DSLR. Manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual): Yes. Once I become proficient with the camera. General Usage: Capturing of special moments during traveling. People, places, events.
Currently considering the following models: Canon EOS 500D Canon EOS 50D Canon EOS 7D
Nikon D5000 Nikon D90 Nikon D300S
Also, please advice if a 18-55mm lens suffice for my shooting needs. Thanks.
