I've often wondered just how many manual focus lenses Zeiss really sells to Nikon users.

One in a hundred? One in a thousand, or maybe one in a hundred thousand Nikon owners buys them. I'd guess more like one in a million and the reason is no AF. I'm sure the chipping will help a bit, but it sure seems like making them AF, would boost sales considerably.

I wonder if they are doing the slow progress thing, so they can try and get current owners to buy their lenses twice, then sell them a third set when they finally upgrade to AF? I suspect they could get more customers, by just jumping to the AF right now.

It seems sort of like trying to sell Cassette Tapes, when almost everyone has CD players.
