Just a suggestion.... It is well known that lenses are optimized for certain distances. The legendary Goerz Artar lenses are optimized for closeup, 1:1 and are worse performers at infinity. I have found that some of the cheaper kit lenses perform surprising well at about 8 feet, and then rather poorly at 20 feet. Most of the really stunning pictures supplied by the manufacturers on their websites are close-ups, where digital sensors seem to shine best. Maybe this should be considered in the reviews of lenses. Near and far performance.
