Or an announcement that says what sensor they will be using, again like Panasonic didn't? > i.e a PATHETIC > attempt by Samsung to distract attention away from the news of Micro > 4/3 by their big rival PANASONIC > > I mean , think about it : who are they kidding : a system that is to > be developed starting TWO YEARS from now. Not "developed", they said "introduced", as in "cameras in our hands". Spring 2010, which is more like a year and a half, not two years... When did Oly and Panasonic say micro four thirds was going to launch? Did you remember what Thom Hogan said when Panasonic and Oly announced micro four thirds? Basically... Cute, but I know two other manufactures who are already working on that. (my paraphrase). > Think of something else : > They even know that in2010 which sensor they will be using Which probably means they're pretty close to production. > One look at sensor technology improvement pace over the last few > years sufice to convince that nobody can be sure to rely on a 2 year > old sensor or more for a brand new system No, a real "look" at that would suffice to convince that you are quite wrong. The Sony ICX413-AQ introduced in Nikon D100 was February 02 - Nikon D100 February 03 - Pentax *ist D January 04 - Nikon D70 March 04 - Epson RD-1 September 04 - Pentax *ist DS, Konica Minolta 5D April 05 - Nikon D50 and D70s July 05 - Konica Minolta 5D May 06 - Pentax K100D and K110D November 06 - Nikon D40 Over 4 and a half years, 12 different cameras from four different manufacturers, all on the same sensor... > The market will decide of the interest for compact P&S with > interchangeable lenses and I guarantee you that if the market reacts > , other brands will jump on the wagon way before 2010 They're launching in 2010. No one knows when (or for that matter, "if") Panasonic and Oly are launching. The Samsung may very well be the first one on the shelves, the one that the "market" will be reacting to, the camera that causes "other brands will jump on the wagon". -- Rahon Klavanian 1912-2008.
