If I'm not wrong, using same idea as going from 4:3 to M4:3, one could remove the mirror system from a FF body like the D700, cut flange distance by half, and use "full" 4:3 mount on a camera with a FF sensor.
Lenses would have to be redesigned, likely, but mount would be the same, a big deal when changing standards.
Of course, all makers will be going through the same movements the next few years as EVFs replace OVFs.
Oly experts, your word on that?
