Article in the New York Times announced that Polaroid is getting out of the Polaroid business. They haven't been making cameras for about a year now, and they'll stop making film as soon as they have enough to get through 2009.

It certainly isn't unexpected, but still a little sad. I remember, as a kid, the magic of the my dad clicking the shutter, then waiting for a prescribed amount of time, pulling a packet out of the camera and peeling it apart and -- voila -- there was the picture.

In fact, I took my very first photograph on a Polaroiid about half a century ago.

Enough nostalgia -- give me my Canon 40D with interchangeable lenses any day!
