I am interested by the integration between the 2 medias. I stopped using film some 7 years ago.
A few months ago, feeling that digital had riped, I bought my first dSLR. I then worked my way to find an adapter for my old primes, and began to by other ones in a flea market with great pleasure.
My new digital lenses are zooms made of plastic, and expensive. I thought I could easily break them while travelling to distant places.
My old Pracktica SLR and lenses are fantastically sturdy and don't need batteries.
Lately I bought a Zenitar 16mm fisheye, on the assumption that I would use it as an ultrawide on digital, and as a fisheye on film, so I bought my first film after years.
Next buy will be a flatbed scanner: recently they have radically come down in price, and increased resolution, and are able to scan slides, which my archive is made of.
Since film has not gone up in price, I might still use film for portraits and landscape, using again the pentacon 135/2.8 (beautiful lens) in its original role. An yet use it on digital as a mighty 270 zoom.
The Zenitar on film is a 180° fisheye, which costs only a fraction of digital fisheyes.
If the scanner is good I might be using both cameras for *different purposes*.
Last, I would be extremly happy if on DP there was a film forum where to discuss these matters.
After all a digital camera is ony the scanner of an optical image, so to speak.
And 35mm film is still the poor man's Full Frame, with no need to spend the equivalent of a car for lenses.
Therefore I feel that I am getting the best of both worlds.
Am.
